How to replace scooter wheels

  1. Using the Allen Keys provided in the box with your Scooter undo the axle through the wheel. (If you have difficulty with this please refer to the "Dealing with immovable bolts" on our maintenance page)
  2. If the wheel does not come with bearings either insert new bearings or replace with the bearings from the old wheel. (see below)
  3. If your model has spacers or washers make sure they are in place before replacing the wheel.
  4. Place the Allen Key bolt through the base, wheel and spacers if applicable and tighten.

Please note: The Maxi Micro Classic/Deluxe has two wheels at the rear. To be safe, do double check and see if you will need to replace just one or both of them.

The great thing about Micro Scooters is that we have a full range of spare parts available – as you know since you’re here. Since Micro Scooters have few moving parts and they are largely screwed together instead of fused, most parts can be easily replaced.

The key thing to help your Micro Scooter last the distance is maintenance, maintenance and maintenance. We recommend tightening the nuts and bolts every few weeks and giving your scooter a full service every four months or so to keep to keep it in its best condition. To get the full run down about how to tighten the nuts and bolts or a give your scooter a full service head to our maintenance pages. We also have a full range of videos for you to check out if you would like us to complete the service alongside you.

Kids scooters get a lot of use as well, remember to give them a regular once over to enhance their longevity! Check out our repairs page – where there is information on how to care specifically for their scooter.

Before you start the repairs – we want to let you know that each scooter has a two year warranty, have a scroll through what this encompasses on our warranty page. If you haven’t activated your warranty yet, don’t worry we’ll get you registered!

Easy maintenance

Replacement parts received as described and good instructions online. Took a bit of effort to loosen bolt but worth replacing rather than buying new. Great to have parts available!

Replacement rear wheel for kids scooter

The replacement rear wheel arrived within a few days, was easy to replace and had the required Allen keys included in the kit. Easy to replace and our son is very happy his scooter is fixed.

Works as expected

Immediately wears out... probably a rider standing on the brake so hard that the wheel skids is outside of the design specs though.

Expensive.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your review and feedback on our wheels.

I am sorry to hear you are having an issue with your wheel wearing out.
The 80mm rear wheels do have the potential to wear quite fast when used for skids, being jumped/stomped on, or when going down an incline and being constantly pressed on instead of just to slow the scooter to bring it to a stop. As these scooters are designed for young children 1-5 they are designed to be as smooth as possible - if your child is wearing the wheels out this fast I might recommend moving up to a bigger scooter like the Maxi or Sprite.

Kind Regards,
Katie :)

Disappointed

Bought these wheels to replace the back wheel of my son's scooter, which was already replaced a couple of months ago. The wheels wear down so quickly, within a couple of weeks there was a flat edge on the wheel from my 4 year old using his scooter as a 4 year old does. I will be buying him a new scooter soon and it won't be a micro scooter.

Micro Scooters NZ

Hi Anneke,

Thanks for your feedback, we really value both negative and positive reviews so we can keep evolving our products to be the best possible on the market.

Our wheels are made of an extremely high proportion of ployeurethane - which is a premium material and makes for more durable, smoother wheels. We have found over the years that the wheels only wear down extremely fast if they are being used particularly hard, and the rear wheel will develop flat spots if being used for skids, or going down an incline and the brake constantly being pressed down. It sounds like your son might be ready to move onto a 2 wheeled scooter, which will not wear down lile the three wheeled scooters :)

Micro just keep going...

Third set of rear wheels for this scooter! She's ridden hundreds of km over the last 7 years and it still looks great. Being able to replace parts makes these worth every penny
